Using the Toolbar

The toolbar allows you to interact with the map by clicking on the map with a tool. For example, if you click in the toolbar on the Zoom In tool, then click on the map, the map will zoom in around where you click.

To use a tool

Note: Some tools do an action immediately. These include the Full-extent tool and the Back and Forward tools.

Tools

Name Icon Description
Info Info tool Click on a building: After selecting this tool, you can retrieve information about any building by clicking it on the map. The Building Information panel will expand to display a photograph of the building and other relevant information. If you need driving directions to this building just expand the Driving Directions panel and choose a departure point. The map tab and display will switch to a Google map showing the route to the building you have selected.
Zoom in Zoom in tool Click and drag a rectangle: Click and hold the left mouse button down on the map at one corner of the rectangle to zoom in to. Drag the mouse to the other corner of the rectangle, and release the mouse button. The map will zoom in to the area of the rectangle.
Zoom out Zoom out tool Click and drag a rectangle: The map will zoom out so that the current map area will fit into the rectangle drawn. The smaller the rectangle you draw, the more the map will zoom out.
Pan (recenter) Pan tool Click and drag the map: Click and hold the left mouse button on the map, and drag the map. The map will be recentered, with the location dragged at the location you dropped it.
Full extent Full map extent Full extent: Immediately zooms the map out to the show the entire campus. The active tool does not change.
Back Go Back to Previous View tool Go back to the previous map extent: This tool works on the map much like your browser's Back button works on the web. When you click this tool the map extent will return to last location you viewed before you zoomed, panned, or otherwise changed the map view. The active tool does not change.
Forward Forward tool Go to the next map extent: This tool works in conjuction with the Back arrow. When you use the Back arrow tool to return to a previous view, the Forward arrow becomes enabled and you can use it to toggle back and forth between areas on the map that you have visited.
Print Print Tool Print Tool: This tool will open a printer-friendly page that will enable you to print the active map. It is recommended that you use this Print Tool instead of your browser's print button for best results.

NOTE: You will need to turn off your browser's pop-up blocker to view the print page. For best results, choose "Always allow pop-ups for this site."
