The Campus Map is an interactive web mapping application that has many useful features.
Once you become acquainted with the available tools you will soon find the map to be an informative
resource that can provide quick and easy results.
When the page opens the map will show the entire campus area, major roads
and buildings, as well as other university-owned facilities in Columbia.
Use the Find a Building menu above the map to locate a building quickly.
Select any building from the list and the map will zoom to that area.
When you zoom in you'll notice that more layers become visible on the map. Due to the high level of
detail in this map, most layers are set to display at smaller scales. Otherwise the map would appear
cluttered and illegible when viewed at large scales.
Above the map there is a Toolbar for interacting
with the map. See the Toolbar reference page for detailed
instructions for each of the tool functions.
Pan (re-center) the map by clicking and dragging on the map. The pan function is the default
tool, active when the page is loaded.
Click the Zoom In tool on the
Toolbar, then click and drag on the map to draw a rectangle. When you
release the mouse button the map will zoom in to the area outlined by the rectangle.
The Map Contents and Legend
is displayed to the left of the map. This panel is collapsed by default, click the title bar to expand it.
Map Contents shows the prominent features in the map and their corresponding symbols. Use the checkbox
next to each layer to toggle the display on and off.
At the end of the Toolbar there is a "Print" button. Use this button instead of your browser's print
tool for best results. When you click the button a printer-friendly page will open.
Use the panels to the left of the map to access information according to your needs. You can
expand and collapse these panels by clicking the title bar. For more information about the panels,
please see Using the Panels.
